The video was first posted by Xiaomi President Lin Bin on Weibo, and later on the company’s official Twitter account. It showcases the standard Xiaomi Mi 9 alongside a modified prototype with no notch.
— Xiaomi (@Xiaomi) June 3, 2019 With the right lighting angle, the front-facing camera is actually visible to the naked eye. This is especially evident in the video’s thumbnail itself, as you can see above. The video also highlights the position of the near-invisible camera. Despite the demo featuring a modified Xiaomi Mi 9, it is unclear if it will make its way into the smartphone market. The tweet itself does read “sneak peak at the future” so we can probably expect this feature to show up in a future Xiaomi model, even if it’s not the Mi 9 itself.
