The function works by taking multiple pictures and combining them into one picture that is much brighter and with more detail without using the LED flash. In other words, it works much like any other brands’ night mode.

While new features are usually delegated to new devices – likely the Galaxy S10 in this case – the fact that this was found in the Galaxy Note 9’s beta code suggests that it’s a feature that will also roll out for some of this year’s phones. That said, Samsung has not made any announcement as to when the Galaxy Note 9 will be getting the Android 9 Pie upgrade. If the new feature is indeed part of the One UI and is also coming to next year’s Galaxy S10, it may be slightly after the phone’s launch before current generation phones get the upgrade.
