To recap, running ChkDsk on the latest version of Windows 10 on an SSD could cause the storage medium to corrupt data on it, rather than fix it. The utility is decades old and was designed to work on older hard disk drives (HDD), but having said that, it should not be the case. At the time of writing, Microsoft says that all affected non-managed devices will be getting the fix within a period of 24 hours. That said, if you’re in a hurry to get the fix installed, the company says that restarting your machine should speed up the process.
