According to the telco, it was running two types of tests including the 5G New Radio (NR) Carrier Aggregation (CA) test which is to obtain single user peak speed. Running on 3.5GHz C-band spectrum, Maxis was given the green light by the Malaysian Communication and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) to run the test at its Subang Jaya sites with a bandwidth of 200MHz for two months. As a comparison, Malaysian telcos that are participating in the 5G deployment were provided with 100MHz of bandwidth for C-band spectrum which resulted in download speed of up to 1.76Gbps. Meanwhile, the telco has also performed 5G NR Multi-user MIMO (MU-MIMO) test at its sites in Subang Jaya in order to check out single cell peak speed with multiple users being present in the network. However, the result from the second test was not shared by the telco though and we have reached for additional info. Regardless of that, it is yet another sign that showed Maxis commitment to the new 5G technology.
